Africa Reference Map

The Africa map was the first map we did in GIS 200. It’s purpose was to apply our knowledge of the five essentials of map design to create a refernece map. I started by labeling each country and choosing colors. O wanted to choose colors and fonts that were not distracting,but stilll caught the attention of the viewer. I would go back now and lighten the color of the ocean and maybe add longitude and latitude lines on my map. The biggest challenge was labeling and acentuating the physical features such as the Sahara Desertand the Great Rift Valley. When finished I was pleased with my map and had learned how to navigate Illustrator significantly better.
